Article I — Name and Purpose


Section 1.1 — Name

The name of this corporation is Hack4Impact (the "Corporation").

Section 1.2 — Purpose

The Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Specifically, the Corporation's purposes are:

  1. To advance education by providing students with practical experience in technology, design, data analysis, project management, and related skills through real-world projects serving charitable purposes;
  2. To provide charitable assistance to nonprofit organizations and social impact initiatives through technology solutions, consulting services, capacity building, and workforce development programs;
  3. To foster collaboration between educational institutions, students, nonprofit organizations, and socially-responsible employers to address community needs and advance social good;
  4. To conduct research and disseminate knowledge about technology applications, data analysis, and best practices in nonprofit operations and social impact work;
  5. To promote civic engagement, professional development, and career pathways in socially-responsible technology careers among students and emerging professionals.

Section 1.3 — Powers

The Corporation shall have all powers granted to nonprofit corporations under the Pennsylvania Nonprofit Corporation Law and such other powers as may be necessary or convenient to carry out its purposes, including but not limited to:

  1. Establishing and operating university chapters;
  2. Entering into partnerships with universities and other educational institutions;
  3. Providing training, resources, and support to student volunteers;
  4. Accepting and managing grants, donations, and other funding sources.

Section 1.4 — Limitations

No part of the net earnings of the Corporation shall inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. The Corporation shall not carry on propaganda or otherwise attempt to influence legislation, except as may be permitted under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Corporation shall not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
